Excavation Permit Applications

Any person, company, or contractor planning to perform excavation work that impacts public property within the Town of Vermilion—such as roads, sidewalks, alleys, boulevards, or medians—must first obtain an Excavation Permit. This permit ensures that all work is completed safely, with minimal disruption, and that any affected infrastructure is restored to its original condition or better.

Typical excavation purposes include utility work (water, wastewater, gas, power, cable, etc.), infrastructure repairs, or construction activities. Permit approval is subject to the submission of detailed site plans, valid insurance, utility locates, and adherence to all terms and conditions outlined by the Town.

Permits must be submitted before work begins, and applicants are responsible for notifying nearby residents and businesses, ensuring site safety, and meeting all restoration standards. A two-year warranty period applies to all work completed.
