The Town of Vermilion’s potable water is supplied from the Alberta Central East Water Corporation (ACE). The water is drawn from the North Saskatchewan River and treated by EPCOR Utilities Inc. before it is distributed through 350 kilometers of pipeline. The Town of Vermilion has two reservoirs with 4,275,000 litres of treated water storage capacity.

Maintenance repairs on the regional line will require a water restriction to complete the work. There are three (3) levels of water restrictions that are issued by the corporation to help reduce water usage during the maintenance work. Water restriction notices are emailed from ACE Water Corporation to the CAO and the Water Department.
